It's the crazy 'winter' we had . Not that we had a winter really, more of a six month 'autumn from hell'.
I have a fuschia, a rose and nasturtiums that are still going from last summer!!!!Pain is still pain, suffering is still suffering, regardless of whoever, or whatever, is the victim.
Everything is worthy of kindness.

I just threw caution to the wind this year and got sowing in early March. The winter was so mild it seemed pointless to hang around, It's only a few seeds after all.....Hussar!Comment

I did the same as Richard and started late Feb/early March. Tomato seedlings have all been potted on and I have peppers and cucumbers all germinated, along with lettuce, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, peas and broad beans in containers in the greenhouse.
These are the first of my first earlies in the greenhouse. They were planted 22 Feb.Comment

Sounds great Sol. Ive got meteor peas going, hurst green shaft and kelvedon wonder all up, loads of lettuce and radishes .On the Tata front I have Rocket, Ratte, charlotte and nicolas,all have broken the surface. I've only just done my tender veg in the last couple of days, melons, runner beans, etc My Mini cucumbers, and corgettes are starting tommorow.Originally posted by solway cropper View Post

Very strange winter indeed, never seen anything like it. Celery plants still around, weren't killed off by frost and about to go to seed. Some potatoes, that I hadn't dug up in autumn (missed them), started growing green leaf above soil in early January! The potatoes themselves were only a couple of inches below the soil, but still...
Kept them in the ground just to see how they would go and they are still going strong despite 1 or 2 days with minor leaf dmg from frost. They are about 12-18 inches tall now and I guess I can expect a crop sometime in early June!Comment
