  • I didn't go out planning to buy vegetables and seeds!

Honest I didn't! However I came back with:

    Plants:
    Garlic chives
    Lemon balm
    6 sweetcorn
1 apple lemon cucumber (or something bizarre like that!)
    12 onion seedlings
    1 aubergine
6 broccoli (I think, need to go back and check!)

    Seeds:
Carrot - Jaune Du Doubs (trying Franchi ones as they were cheaper)
Lamb's Lettuce - Verte De Cambrai (Franchi)
Beetroot - Tonda Di Chioggia (Franch)
    Melon - Ogen
    Squash - Harrier F1 Hybrid
Carrot - Purple Haze F1 Hybrid

Now just need to find somewhere to plant everything I have a little bit of time though until I need the beds in the greenhouse to plant what I'm sowing now in. I shouldn't be trusted!

    Hi Rachel
I'm the same! I go to the garden centre with the sole intention of just buying one or two things (not plants or seeds) but some how, magically, I seem to come out with a trolley load of plants and seeds and god knows what else, that might just come in useful!!

Where were you shopping? You thought it was an electronics store, but actually was a garden centre and it "just happened"? That's a big list of things, not just the odd thing from the odd store...

I did pick up more seeds and then decided I didn't actually need 500 mange tout seeds!

I shouldn't be let loose near these places. Met Mr G in B&Q on Wednesday just to get one thing...ended up spending three times as much on plant things...whoops!

I only went out to go to a Sports shop to get some weights and a step! Although I didn't come home with those as I couldn't find any.

Hmmm maybe plants for gardening is more energetic

Pah! Clearly you *saved* money! Your plants and seeds will require you to do at least as much excercise as your 'sports' equipment would have and you also get to eat healthily as an end result!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom

I've come to take you home."

And you problem with this is?

Sounds perfectly fine and a normal day's shopping.

Plant fairs start here today - I have a budget for this year, no more than €150 per day to cover everything including flowers and shrubs. There's only 3 tho this year so that's ok, should save money

I have a day off work a week tomorrow, and I have a trip to our local nursery planned! The boot will be empty when I go!

I went for some carrot fly netting, came back with broad beans, mange tout, petit pois, coriander, chillis and french beans.

Oh, and a haxnicks 1.5 metre insect proof mesh tunnel. At least I got the thing I set out to get.

Do you think we should set up local groups for Plantaholics Anon? We could then meet, indulge our passion and swop our spare plants, then we'd realize that we're normal, not nuts, and it's those who don't grow things who are the odd ones out!

Well at least you got what you originally went out for!

I went to Grow Limited for my plants which is a local place for people with learning disabilities to work. Cost me 50p for 6 broccoli plants, 50p each for a tray of 6 onions and £1 for an aubergine plant...hmmm that doesn't work out as I paid £3 but never mind *lol*
