Huge Durham Early Cabbage

Usually Durham Early cabbage is grown as a spring cabbage..........sown in July and harvested about now.
I usually harvest every second one as spring greens (collards) allowing alternate plants to heart up.
It can be sown in the spring and treated as asummer cabbage in which case it's up to you whether you leave it to heart up..............or if you have a few harvest them as rather tasty greens!

My Durhams are being eaten now and are truly giant. As there are only two of us I have taken some leaves and left the heart growing before now with no harm done.

Thanks for that guys. I am going to cook some for our supper tonight!

As to where you can get them, I bought them as plug plants from B&Q of all places. Have seen them in garden centres such as wyvale and frosts too.

I got mine in a free packet attached to a veg magazine last year.
