  • How to tell if Scotch seed spud's are Scotch

    Well the tittle say's it do you know if the seed potatoe's are grown in Scotland there is a way .
    And Tattieman you aint alowed to answer .
    I was taught this many year's ago when i drove a hay straw and potato lorry the bloke i drove for used to buy job lot's when the farmer's had finnished planting and to make sure there were not English masquerading as scotish in scotch bag's this is the test,,..jacob

      well - at first I read this as a potential joke thread...."just look at the label on the bag "would have been my answer

      BUT- I wonder- do the Scottish ones have thicker/darker skins????
      I noticed last year my Charlotte spuds weren't from Scotland and they looked lighter than usual...maybe that was just by chance???

            You aren't allowed to say Scotch unless you're talking about whisky!
            (I was told off once for saying Scotch instead of Scottish and I've never forgotten it)

              Correct Two_Sheds - we can be quite upset by being termed scotch.

              Not sure how you tell the spuds though
