  • How tall do these get? BushBean : Fagioli Nani Splendido (Borlotto Bean

I have a packet of these but can't find anywhere that states how tall they grow.

Bean : Bush Bean : Fagioli Nani Splendido (Borlotto Bean) (Seeds)

    Can anyone advise?

I think I grew those last year, if it's the same ones then they grew to about 18 to 24" high.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

      No staking is required

It says that above which assumes they are dwarf.

However, I sowed some supposed Borlotto dwarfs in my early bean project and had to stake them and nip the growing tips out at 3ft.

I grew a few Borlotto Beans last year and they were a dwarf variety - grew the same height as an ordinary french bean or a broad bean.Dont know that they were the same variety as you have

Yeah the ones I grew said no staking required but even at the dwarf height they still needed some support.

Thanks everyone. I have a nice little strip of ground at the back of the greenhouse that I dug over today. Would these be fine if shaded for part of the day or do they like a sunny spot?

The ones I grew were 10 foot high and totally swamped the runner beans.
Sounds to me like your dwarfs had got mixed up with the climbing variety? (But that's a a mans point of view so will probably be wrong!)

Nana (or nani) means dwarf or short or something. Any plant with that in its name is a shorter version. I grew the short and the 10ft tall last year!

Unless the supplier [probably a bloke] got it wrong of course.

I've given up with borlottos bring of the shorter variety and now just go for broke with long canes.
