I've only been growing sweet peppers for a few years and they do seem to take a long time to get started. I sowed mine about three weeks ago and still no sign. My chillis were sowed at the same time and they are just starting to come up today.

I use a heated propagator and they'll normally show their faces in around 10 days.

I sowed some patio sweet peppers and patio hot peppers and most of the sweet peppers have come up, but only 1 of the hot peppers have come up - and it's been almost a month!

After a few weeks I generally get twitchy and stick a few more seeds in. . .and then end up with far too many plants - someone's always grateful for a free pepper plant later on!

Chilli seeds usually always take up to 40 days depending on type. Chill seeds do like heat to germinate.
Last year I collected my own seeds and they have all germinated after about 2 weeks in a heated propergater.
