    How to grow Giant Long Carrots



    If anyone's interested in how to grow some of the Long Show Carrots then I've done a short YouTube video.
    I'm no expert but I did have some cracking results last year using this method.
    No secret to it whatsoever just a bit of preparation,(filling a barrel with sand) and the right seed (I use Medwyns) and you can get some cracking results.
    All the compost mixes are on my blog.
    I'm trying to take the myths out of show veg and give everyone the buzz of pulling a 4ft carrot just for a laugh.
    P.S Don't laugh at my daft Yorkshire accent.

    Fantastic carrots vegmandan. I'm not sure they would fit on t'chopping board however .

                Oooh, am going to watch this later when I'm on a computer with sound! I grew carrots for the first time last year (Early Nantes 2) and was quite disappointed cause they were so tiddly. I'd rather have longer/bigger ones so will watch this video with interest. Thank you

                  Very well made vid, I thought - I have seen "professional" ones that were not nearly so well done.
                  How do the giant carrots and parsnips taste compared to normal size ones ? How do they store ? And the burning question in my mind from the first instant - short of wrecking the boxes, how do you get the blessed things out ?
                  I can see how you would be chuffed to get such monsters...
                  There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
