  • Horse manure makes veg bitter???

A friend and I are just starting to cultivate an area on her large garden/paddock. She has 5 horses so horse manure is very plentifully available and we're starting by putting down cardboard and covering the cardboard with a thick layer of horse manure. But someone told me yesterday that horse manure makes the veggies taste bitter - is this true??

Not that I have ever heard or noticed. Just make sure it is well rotted stuff from the bottom of her muck heap.

Perhaps it does if you add it as a garnish to your cooked veg ;0)

Ha ha! So glad to hear your replies. As we had such a good supply of manure, it seemed like a disaster not to be able to use it....!
