    Hooligan and Acorn Squash!

    Hey everybod!

    I'm growing Acorn and Hooligan squash (thanks vine seed swap!) Not too sure how big they should get! Anyone grown these before or even if you donated them to the swap! I have picked one acorn already but not sure if I should have now!

    My Hooligans are in a water tank at the back of the house and one (of two) has SEVEN coming about five of which are a fair size (for a small squash anyway!) only saw them yesterday YAY I was expecting a bit more colour though they are very pale!

    Wow! Mine died a sluggage death. Should they be able the same sized a baby coconut?

      I do like the thought of a hooligan in the garden. I find most pumpkins and squash act like hooligans anyway and try to wrap around your legs if you stand still too long.
      Off to google hooligan squash and see whether they look like I'm imagining.


      Hooligan Squash

      These charming little orange and white squashes appear in masses on tender vines. They are about 8cm round and look fab at any dinner party or special occasion served hot or hollowed out and filled with goodies!

        8cm round? Is that right? Mine were as big as a baby's head, no idea what that is in weight

          My Hooligans were about 12cm, so a bit bigger than Feral's quote.
          Acorn's grow to about 18 - 20 cm - well my favourite Thelma Sanders does

          Don't pick any of them until they change colour - that's what tells you that they're ripe

            In only eat my winter squashes at the end of the season when they're ripe and the way it's going this year that won't be a very big meal
