    Help, Low maintenance vegetables

    Hi I have been offered a pece of land to grow on ( about half the size of an allotment ) The soil is in great condition and ready to be planted.
    However it is several miles from my home and I will be only be able to visit once a week.
    What can I grow that is extremely low maintenance ?

    I grow a lot of veg in my back garden but spend a lot of time out there between shifts at work so don't give pests, diseases and weeds a chance.

    We eat almost anything and this plot is only on offer from now until christmas so nothing that requres to much initial work.
    I think courgettes will be a good start but after that I am stumped.

    Any help would be great,

      fill it with leeks. A man can't have too many leeks and they are low maintenance.

        the courgettes will grow fairly big during a week,potatoes,root crops,onions,variouse salad crops,so long as they have a little water system, brasicas,should be fine if netted up,

          Potatoes, leeks, winter squashes, onions - one large bed of each

            Runner beans, they don't get attacked by slugs or caterpillar and are pretty maintenance free. Dwarf beans are the same. Courgette's can get savaged by slugs. Potato's, carrots beetroot, radish, even sweet potato there good for ground cover.

              Soft fruit?........not a veg but highly appreciated.

                    Squash...different varieties...you could even cover the ground in between to keep the weeds RIGHT down if time is very short.

                    JA's? Ours get ignored all year and they seem to love it.
