  • Help! I need sowing inspiration...

My garden got invaded by buttercups and nettles this year and don't talk to me about bindweed, so it's been left to its own devices rather - lots of green tomatoes, some quite sensational chard and beetroot that I can't get to because of the rows of volunteer potatoes and MILLIONS of Jerusalem artichokes, Cherokee trail of tears and runner beans and red onions and rhubarb and blackcurrants. That side kind of took care of itself. So half the garden is wild and fecund HOWEVER; the other side, which I've just cleared a ton of buttercups from, has pumpkins growing along one edge, a huge courgette with only male flowers and...

    What?

What can I sow TODAY or TOMORROW, chaps? Inspire me - I've got every kind of seed, and the weather ranges from freezing and pouring with rain to boiling sunshine on the same day at the moment. I planted some savoy cabbages last week but I rather think they've been eaten. I also cleared out the greenhouse, so I could put stuff in there.

Inspiration that's likely to get a crop before winter?

Thanks, chaps - yes, much as I thought I suppose. Spinach and kale (I forgot kale) and some carrots in buckets sounds fab. I've got masses of chard already and I forgot to mention salads, which I grow all the year round anyway.

I suppose it's too late for turnips or swede, isn't it? I'll have to see what I can persuade to sprout in buckets.

        Thanks again
