  • Help! Disappearing cabbage!

I have just moved house and started to grow veg. I planted Savoy and Spring cabbage plants about 2 weeks ago and they were growing well But are now being munched rapidly by some wee beasties.
It doesn't seem to be slugs, and I can't see any caerpillars. Any ideas anyone?

Have you netted them against pigeons? What does the damage look like (picture might help). You won't see slugs or snails during the day, but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

If the holes are within the leaf, kind of holes in the middle of the leaf? It's slugs or caterpillars

If the leaves are really ragged round the edges, it's woodpigeons.

Either way, you need to net them with fine mesh and do a slug patrol at night

Thanks to everyone for their replies. Holes are in the middle of leaves. We don't really see many pigeons around so I don't think its that. I have put pellets down, don't really like them but hate slugs more and can't face picking them up! Yeuch!!
Thought it would be too late for caterpillars but the weather has been very warm here lately. I will net as well.
                Thanks again.

Due to the unseasonal weather I am still picking caterpillars of my PSB and spring cabbage.
