  • Has this spinach beet bolted?

Not grown it before, so I'm not sure if this is just how it grows or if it's bolted. It's been really hot here for the last few days and the plants started to wilt today before I dowsed them with the hose.

If it puts up a flower shoot, then it's bolted. That does look like it might be a flower starting...
I'd pinch it off, eat the rest of the leaves then pull it up - I don't know if it will make any new leaves after you've pinched off the flower shoot. Hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable about this crop will come along soon

I'd also pinch out the middle then harvest individual leaves. there's not much you can do about it - except sow again later in the season - maybe early August.

I had a nosey inside the top shoots and discovered a flower, so I've uprooted it and harvested all the leaves. Fortunately it's only 2 plants at the moment, but will keep an eye on the rest.

It's been a pretty successful grower and is very tastey so will definately be planting more.
