  • Guess the chilli.....

    Hi All,
I have a puzzle on my hands.
Earlier in the year I bought some caldero chilli seeds from a major seed company.
They are supposed to look like the last picture.
As they were planted a little late they are only just fruiting but what I am getting is shown in the other pictures. Clearly not caldero but what might they be
Grateful for any suggestions. And yes I have double checked the pack to make sure.

Hi Incy they look more like small sweet peppers to me... I think you'll need to taste and see how hot they are.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Picture number 1 looks suspiciously like a Scotch Bonnet or a habanero to me but picture 2 is rather more elongated. I suspect it is a hot one so if you let one ripen and do try it 'neat', have some milk standing by.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

They can look like the 'elongated one. Are they 2 different plants 'cos the short, fat one looks like either a bonnet or a relative of mine.

              Picture is a Dorset naga.

They are 2 different plants. The seeds came from the same packet but on this occasion I don't think that means very much

Pic 2 certainly does look like a sweet pepper. Unsure about pic 1, is the pepper pointy or blunt? Can't really see from the angle of the photo.

I was thinking that pic 1 looks a bit like a pimento (sp?) pepper, like Topepo Rosso they're quite small and tomato-shaped.

they are quite different to each other in shape. The larger one looks very like a sweet pepper and the smaller one has a pointy bit on the bottom but is quite wide in circumference. Personally I'm baffled and we'll only know whether they are sweet or hot by trying them, but I thought it would be fun to see what other grapes think.
It's most annoying as they're the only batch I didn't mix up as seedlings

Dont judge a plant by it's pot.

Trouble is there are only 2 of them at the moment so if I try them to see then there will be none. Think I'll let them grow a bit first.
