How big is the container?

Worse case scenario - you have to pick 1050 out and buy another pack for next time.

Or just go to the BBC big Dig website, put a claim in for their free seeds, and resow.

Hi Lee, firstly don't worry we all make mistakes! I would think the only problem is you will have a lot of thinning out to do. When the seedlings start to come through and they are big enough for you to get hold of, carefully pull some out, keep doing this until you get the space around the seedling you need for it to grow. I try and imagine the size of vegetable I want and then leave roughly that sort of space around the seedling. You can by the way eat the thinnings, they taste good in salads.

Thanks for the reply.

The Container is about 60 Litre and i knew i had made a mistake once i checked on this website. Would it be more sensible to clear the pot and re-sow new seeds or can i recover from this mistake?

Leave em be. As said, you can thin them out as you go along (and even the baby seedlings taste quite ok).

If you watered the seeds in, I wouldn't give them any more water until the seedlings come through. Once the seedlings have appeared, stick your finger about an inch into the soil, if it feels moist, it won't need watering and obviously if it feels quite dry it will.

If you've only just sown them and you've got a spare tub you could take off the top inch of compost, divide it in two and split it between two tubs. Or put half in the ground if you've a spare patch. So long as the seeds haven't had chance to germinate I shouldn't think that would effect them.
