  • To grow or not to grow?

Have you had any crops you've grown and then given up on growing, and what was the reason for that?

Last year I went bonkers for rainbow chard. It grew like anything, you could eat it in salads, stir fries, stems and leaves, and it's soooooo damn pretty! But after stuffing my face with it all season, i decided I didn't really like it all THAT much. It was just ok, a bit meh.

So I dug up my plants, and composted them... and now I'm wishing I hadn't/ planted some more because it's just so convenient at a time when not a lot else is ready to eat!

So i think I WILL grow chard, again, after all!

I grew chard once too and it was treated with such revulsion by the family that "chard" has become a swear word! I've tried winter cabbages but they don't seem to heart up and just make loose leaves. Cauliflower has been tricky too!

I'm the same with chard. Grew way too much and found that while it's good to chuck in curries and the like it's not that amazing, so I cut down this year. Now I wish I hadn't. Going to sow some more soon. We don't have any from last year as the snow killed it. I decided against radishes this year as they always end up in the fridge going soft and then have to be composted. I grew them cos they're easy and quick and look pretty in salads but not actually that keen on em.

Agree with the above. JA ugh.
Also, cauliflower, Oca, radish, summer broccoli and cabbages.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
