  • Green Sausage Tomatoes - how you you know if they're ripe?

Couple have gone much darker green, with some light green stripes on them (almost like tiger stripes). There's some slight give when squeezed (or squoze as I like to say) -photo attached taken a couple of days ago.

Tomato : Green Sausage (Heritage) (Seeds) says yellow stripes, so I'd wait for your light green stripes to lighten a bit more. Then have a taste: if it's nice, it's ready

Ahha. I remember posting about them ages ago, but couldn't find that post (typo galore in suasags ). http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...tml#post604472 - couldn't remember what they looked like, and didn't think to have a look where I got them from

      cheers!

I am glad you posted this as I have the same query but with green zebras. I am going to go on squishiness rather than colour i think

Green Zebs go from dark green and light green to light green and yellow (and they're squishy!)

This is bonkers... a week in the GH and fruit is setting like mad?! I've about 20 green sausage fruit at the mo, on the largest plant, about 5 forming on another and a couple more on another. I'd all but given up on them (and the rest of the toms) - which are also setting. Maybe they weren't happy where they were before ? (outside, garden - bit windy)

Mine have been grown outdoors, and I've got loads and loads of green sausages from just one plant.
Just starting to go yellow, so will have a squidge test and then a taster, to see what sort of sausage it tastes like.
