What did your larvae look like TTG? Were they bright green with black heads?

My suspicion is Cabbage White Butterfly caterpillers, in which case you'll need netting/Enviromesh/cheap net curtains, but make sure whatever you use it is supported so that it doesn't touch the plants, otherwise the butterflies can lay their eggs through the net.

if the leaves are consumed then will the stop growing? the were green or white. think i will invest in some netting.

It depends how badly munched your whole plant is. One eaten leaf won't affect growth, but if the majority of the plant is damaged, then it won't be able to build up enough energy to grow back or produce a crop for you.

You are best to get your protection in place before the pests find your plants (I usually do it as soon as I plant out the young plants into their final growing position).

I know Nicos like to buy cheap net curtains from Ikea. I buy fleece from Harrod Horticultural.

              Hope that helps

The plant will grow more leaves if you keep the pests off

whatever you get, make sure the holes are smaller than a folded butterfly can squeeze through
