I use Growmore and also chicken pellets as fertilisers and lately have thought would the following be a good idea? I was thinking of putting an amount of chicken pellets and growmore into a large container of water and leaving both to completely dissolve. Then I would use the 'mixture' as a fertiliser. I'm thinking the benefits would be -- easily to 'water' a thick leaved plant[s] - quick take up of goodness by plants and seedlings. What are the views of people more wise than I - good idea or not and the reasons for your opinion. Thanks.

I think it risks burning the roots myself. I use Pellets for scattering on leafy crops, BFB for digging in, Miracle grow, and Tomorite for liquid feeds ( dependent on growth stage)Originally posted by cheops View PostHussar! -
I agree with Richard, you would need to dilute it considerably. I used to keep a barrel of water and add sheep daggins (dirty bits clipped from their back end) then water my sweet peas with it. hmmmn - seemed an ideal easy way but I have to take in your point - it risks burning the roots, and then I imagine even more risk the younger the plant is. Plus I have no idea of the ratios of either the fertilisers or the water quantity.Comment

Just bung a handfull of chicken manure pellets around the base of your plants and let the rain and watering take care of it. If you need a liquid use miracle grow ( which has good trace minerals) or Tomorite if they're flowering/fruiting plants.Last edited by Richard Eldritch; 09-05-2014, 10:10 AM.Hussar!Comment
