Medwyns and Mammoth onions tend to be the main ones for exhibition stuff but I can't see and giant onions listed

Usually giant onions are grown from seed planted just after xmas ,or bought as plants to go out as they tend to bolt if grown from setsdon't be afraid to innovate and try new things

When picking onion sets I always pick the very smallest.The biggest sets always seem to split into two or more plants.
I think your best bet for giant onions is to buy plants. They are usually sold in large polystyrene boxes with up to 50 plants in them. They need to be planted 12 to 18 inches apart to allow them to grow on unhindered. 50 giant onions would probably take up the whole of my plot (That's why I don't grow them)

The only large onions available from sets are Marshalls showmaster unsurprisingly available from Marshalls if they still do themComment
