Evening. My gherkin plants are producing loads of fruits which im pure chuffed with. But ive no idea when to pick...duh. How can you tell when they are ripe for picking? Ta muchly.

Don't gherkins come in all sizes? Some varieties are picked really small - like a little finger, others grow fat and chubby. So it may depend on which ones you're growing.

Ive no idea what variety they are. What sort of gardener throws out the label thinking she'll remember the name huh huh?? Oh right thats me.
If i mind right (which i probably dont) they were supposed to be small.
Can i pick them with shrivelled up flowers still attached? Just how green should these beauties be?

These are they. Sort of cocktail size gherkins. Off shopping for spices and vinegar see how the first small jar goes. Me and OH eat shop bought gherkins by the kilo so id better live upto the commercial jobs!Attached FilesComment
