  • Gel on rhubarb stems

I have had a good crop of rhubarb this year, but picked the last lot a couple of weeks ago.

Was just checking today and found some clear gel like substance on the stems that I was just leaving to grow to then rot back down.

Has anybody any ideas as to what the gel might be, what causes it and does it need treating.

    Thank you in advance.

No worries - something has had a little nibble and the gel is just sap seeping out.
