my garlic looks like it's starting to flower. So what do I do now?
It went in last summer, got to about 4" high then died. Came up again and did really well and now as I've said it looks like it flowering.
    Help please.

Nip off the flower buds and if it is big enough lift it.

      Thank you.
I was hoping someone was going to say lift it! That's going to make a much more enjoyable afternoon. It was going to be weeding and mowing if I couldn't do anything with my garlic.

Hello SP - I had to do that with my garlic 3 weeks ago. Thankfully they were all a reasonable size. I have read somewhere on here that they might not store for as long though - but don't assume I know what I'm talking aboit.

I suppose if it went in last summer it would flower now.
Last years growth would be considered by the garlic to be it's first year, and this year it's second and they flower in the second year.

They do not look upon it as a year since they went in but 2 growing seasons.

Well I lifted mine as they leaves had bent over...tiny, well not tiny but small bulbs! Still smell very garlicky (sp) looking forward to trying them once dried.
