Default Garlic?

Does garlic has a chance to grow this season?
My young brother planted it with a lot of excitment and I don't want him to be sad.

They should grow if planted now but it won't produce huge bulb (it most possibly will be a single bulb like onion). Feed it like you do to onion but they don't like wet.
