Hi Greenwitch,

I grew gardener's delight last year in pots and they grew to around 5 foot. They were pretty leggy though as they were in a lot of shade, so perhaps they should be quite that big. They will need staking though as the fruit grows and gets heavy though.

Most tomatoes will just keep getting taller. Infact some commercial growers using hydroponics lay them down in the troughs to throw roots as the various trusses are picked the plants are yards and yards long.

In practice, for an English summer you'll get 6 trusses to ripen at most; so pinch out the top. They should be about five or six foot by then. Gareners delight do not make good bushes they get spindly and unwieldy with no advantage to yield....you want the energy of the plant to go into the fruit... Pinch out those armpit hairs.
