  • in the garden today

ive been messing around in the garden this morning. ive cleaned out the chickens and ive been in and out of the greenhouse. i was amazed at the temp in there, it was up to 25 degrees. the peas have all germinated nicely and the transplanted lettuce are doing well. the rain stopped play again so im inside now.

the garlic is all coming up well in the raised beds.the 2 broccoli plants i planted late in the summer are now producing a head.

I managed a bit today as well up at our plot at the city farm, which I've not looked at properly for a while! The broad beans are all up and looking good, cleaned out the chickens and gave them pretty much the last of the sunflowers, finally got the ratted garlic planted along with some elephant garlic (saw it at farm shop for about £1.40 a bulb so decided to get it and plant some!) - if anyone asks I did this at least a fortnight ago The onions from sets are all doing well, but the seedlings I planted out got et so I'm saving the other seedlings until spring. Harvested a bit of rocket and - da da da - a few raspberries each!! Raspberries in November?! Can't say fairer than that
PS and at home when I went out to get parsley I noticed that the coriander was enormous - I'd forgotten all about it because it was so scraggy last time I looked Beautiful with parsley and rocket in an omelette from our own chooks

My greenhouse Mizuna, mixed spicy greens and Stoke lettuce have all come through in the last day or so. It's nithering in the greenhouse at night too. Well done them!

The garlic is sprouting like mad, the onion sets are just showing, the raddichio looks good, and the flat leaved parsley is enormous!

I tried jogging, but I couldn't keep the ice in my glass.

I got up the lotty for half an hour today - really wet and horrible.
I put in a couple dozen broadies that are 3" high, and picked a bendy bucket load of veg, including a big leafy lettuce. I think it'll be Jackets & salad tonight, and stir fry for dinner tomorrow.
The starlings have eaten nearly all my fat balls too, so I need to make some more.
