Good site Duronal, but the Doc's in Oz and most of his projects are about keeping cool whereas ours are about keeping warm!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

    Diversify & prosper

I see you're point but if you subbed shading for netting you'd have easy to make cages, and the rest would still stand.

ho hum or maybe i've lost the plot entirely.

Good site D, thanx, it IS indeed frugal in the best traditions of the genre, very wide ranging and to say the least a bit rough and ready to a point where it has it's own designer motif (which you'll either love or hate). But perhaps it's greatest asset is that it will give visitors confidence that they can do it - whatever job 'it' is - and all they need do is reduce a task to its simplest requirements and then clobber those requirements together. It's a view I rather like, one that I once heard expressed by a farmer as "Never use a 2 inch nail where a 6 inch nail will do!" As the Doc says in one of his letters "It's almost as if people have forgotten how to do things any more. Sad really." which is a view that will happily reverberate on GYO... He's also into wooden crafts, simple toys for kids, recipes, jams etc. I doubt his approach is best if you want to build a computer, be a brain surgeon or send satellites to Mars but if you want to protect a gooseberry bush from birds (say) or build a BBQ it's a full-on approach that should work just fine with some interesting results.... I'm not sure all of his larger projects would be enthusiastically endorsed by UK local planning authorities....
