Is it heated ? as most chillis and peppers like a constant 23c to germinate normally

If it helps from my experince my growing medium for chillis and peppers is
9 parts compost (mpc normally verve)
1 part vermiculite
1 part perlite
hope this helps

here?, in Scotland?,britains answer to the refridgerator?,you betchya it is, I want to grow them not chill them, not that sort of chillies..

It's a bit early to start tomatoes, you'll end up with triffids before its warm enough to plant them out

if its anything like last spring then I am too late, last year we had nearly 5 weeks of the plants in the heated propagator not growing at all, too dark and too cold day after day after day, even the French beans didn't produce til the second week of sept and winter started 2 weeks later, we don't want that again, we want sun, warmth, gentle breezes, bees and hover flies flitting around the plants pollinating and eating nasties...its okay, I will wake up and return to the real world in a minute....sadly.. thoughts of sunkissed beaches and beautiful young ladies....I think I need a holiday as I am starting to forget what that looks like....

I have one of these windowsill propagators too - but in the instructions it says it keeps the soil at 19c... is this going to be warm enough for chillies?

I need to get my A into G and start my chillis and peppers off too. Unfortunately, my porch/potting station looks like a bomb hit it, so sorting that out needs to happen first

I start mine off in the airing cupboard until they show above the surface - they then get shoved on the windowsill.

last year I started some off in some of those supermarket mushroom trays for the compost with some of the clear meat trays they use, washed and used as a propagator lid, but no added heat, just the room temp available, as other seeds were in my propagator, now that's recycling, put on the kitchen windowsill (old house = 20ins deep), but I want to try another half dozen types this year so the 7 tray job is ideal for me..
