  • Flowering Cucumbers

    Hi all

this is my first post and its about growing cucumbers for the first time, (so please be gentle)

Cucumbers are now into 3 inch pots and are about 3-5 inchs high (there are 3) one has started to flower, is that normal? I aim to have them in 12 inch + pots in my new greenhouse as soon as the night temp is over 10c but at the moment they are in a sunny window.

    thanks

Seems very early / small plants to be flowering.

I remove the first few flowers from my Cues as if I let them Set I think it slows down the production of subsequent Cues.

      Hi Brentalist

I too have a couple of plants, Gerkins, on the window sill in flower. I think I read somewhere, probabily in another post, that if a plant is stressed they rush into flowering. Now having thought about it, the two flowering are the runts of the litter so to speak.
I think I will remove the flowers tonight as the plants are two small to hold even small Gerkins.

I have'nt even sown mine yet, something for me to do in the next three weeks. Also possibly straight in to the greenhouse border.

That would make sense as I was too slow to get them into larger posts, they seem to be growing at an alarming rate with the tendrils going now. Need that night time temp to rise so I can pot them up again into the greenhouse!

if I remove the flowers will they reflower later or have these got all too confused !?
