  • Flower on Onion!

Only one of my onions has a flower ~ I want to leave them in the ground a couple more weeks - will this flower affect the onion in any way...?

They've all fallen over Susie? I would dig them up and put in some trays to dry off.

That's ok then Pots - just the bolted one to be hoofed out, and I'll leave the others for a wee bit longer .....

                        Thanks guys!!
I was super-pleased with them actually ~ there was a few of them that hadn't got past a shallot size, but most of them looked like, well, proper onions...!!! (and tasted darned good too - used one in my chilli con carne for tea last night! )

Can I plant kale and Brocolli in that bed to overwinter now...? ( I've got some plants sitting waiting in the GH that I started earlier - ready to plant)

Hi Susie, I just looked it up, both Broccoli and Kale are Brassicas, so yes you can plant them there after onions. I would also add some vegetable granule organic fertiliser into the soil to give them some more food.

Actually I am currently using my potatoes soil to plant loads of lettuce, spinach and flowers!
