  • Flopped leeks

    Hi guys

About 4 weeks ago I planted some leek seeds and had them on my kitchen window cill. There's not that much light so I think that's why they started flopping over, I made a sort of cold frame out of hoops and plastic sheeting today and has out them under that in allotment where they'll get the sun, when its shines.

Do you think they'll pick up? Too cold down plot?

    Thanks

I had the same problem! Repeatedly!

For me, the key is to water, and regularly. Mine are on an easterly wall, that does have some but not a lot of sunshine. Keep them hydrated, don't let them dry out.

Leeks can tolerate very cold temps, they don't need to be indoors

Well that's a good point about being outdoors!!! I've got little ones and the kitchen cill is the only one they can't reach so that's my only location other than outdoors. I'm sure it wasn't because of watering issue so I'm hoping the light might perk them up. Feeling rather more pleased now.
