  • First time growing pots in barrels

So, it is my first time and they have been on the go since the beginning of April and are growing quickly!!!.

I am growing Annabelles, Charlottes and Cara's. Slightly confused as I thought they would take a long time to earth up to the top, but they are pretty much there.

Do they earth up pretty quickly normally? It is it a case of just waiting now for the shoots to grow, flowers to open and then all die off? If so, I imagine this happens within the time frame, i.e Annabelles will die off mid june, charlottes July/August and Cara's Septemeber.

    Am I right or wrong?

Yes, you'll earth up quickly if you're earthing up ever 2-4" of growth. Just a matter of waiting now! Make sure you keep them watered (but don't overwater, do you have drainage in the barrels?). More watering = more swelling of the tubers.

I was harvesting Charlottes from May -> June, then my maincrops from June -> July. I still have some in storage now.
