  • First Cucumber...

    Was harvested today.

From a plant on the plot.

Which was one of the 'not good enough to plant in the greenhouse or give away' ones.

And was shoved in the corner for a few weeks, and then shoved in a corner on the plot, watered in, mulched with straw and left alone.

All the love and care we put into these veg and the dog end pots are the ones that grow the best.

They drive you crazy these veg sometimes....

Its really annoying - I sometimes wonder why I bother all my best tomatoes this year are ones that I didn't plant

Well done on your cucumber though, mine are still no bigger than my little finger Perhaps I'll do better if I just leave one to rot in the ground this year and not bother planting anything next year!

very frustrating and very rewarding at the same time.I have had a few 'pasandra' which seem to be cropping well under glass. 'Telegraph'I found very difficult to actually work out which were the male flowers (know the theory!) so they were bitter. Managed to kill off a few 'Crysal Apple' outside, which was annoying as I had given lots of plants away to friends.
      Chickens love them!

I have some gherkin plants that are really growing well. So if the blooming greenhouse ones don't make it (they're not looking good ) then I'll leave some of the gherkins to fatten up!........did this by mistake last year, and they were fine in a salad LOL
