I was looking at the weekend but no sign here yet . Will be the first year I can harvest properly so am quite excited.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Just been to the allotment today and weeded the asparagus bed. No sign of spears yet though. You must be warmer in Norwich than we are here on the coast.

Just eaten my first two asparagus spears, yum.

I have planted 2 beds for these delicious veg, these early ones were grown from seed three years ago - which cost me 50p.

We have not eaten these before. Boy are they early [and tasty]. There will be enough for a full plateful in 10 days methinks.

The other bed has one nose through as well.

It's been a funny week, full of anxiety at work but good news at home.

My recommendation - don't plant your raspberries by the asparagus, that was a very silly thing to do raspberries are such a weed when the get going.

We got the offer from GYO of the grow bag thing. The asparagus is now poking through. Not long planted so can't eat it this year. BTW - do I just let it die back on its own or what

I checked today after reading this thread, 3 spears on one crown, none of the other 8 are showing yet.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

How much space would a crown need?
I have been thinking about growing some, but don't have that much space.
I was thinking about copying the bag idea (from that special offer)

I am always coming across cubic dumpy bags, and was going to use one of those ?
And if that was ok, how many could I fit in to it?
