  • Fickle Courgette plant.

    Hi All

I have two courgette plants. One is flowering and producing madly near potaoes and rhubarb, the other which is in a more sunny spot near my compost bin and a weigela shrub is very sad with smaller leaves and the occassional flower. Could the root system of the shrub be affecting the plant?

    Any help appreciated.

Possibly, but it sounds more as if it's short of water. You say it's a sunny position so it may be too dry

I think the shrub is sucking up all the available water. It's roots will be reaching out quite a way

Thanks Two Sheds, it's what I feared. Come to think of it the onions were very poor last year in the same area. Maybe it's time to sacrifice the shrub in the name of vegetable gardening !
