  • Feeding toms?

Is it time to start feeding outdoor toms? They are in pots and starting to flower.

Ditto, particularly interested in what to do for the outdoor ones.
No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.

I use my own comfrey feed from the moment they are in the final pot. Worked like a dream last year even though the advice is usually to feed only when the plant starts to flower, or indeed as has been said above, when the first fruit is set.

If they are in pots indoor/outdoor makes very little difference the growing medium will be depleted at about 6 weeks. Maybe slightly quicker if they are outdoor and you get a lot of rain which will rinse out the nutrients.

I like to give mine a high nitrogen feed before flowering/fruit set to help with green growth, changing to high potash when the fruit sets to aid with fruit growth.

I don't enough comfrey leaves yet, used it as mulch on the plot. Was going to use standard 'tomato feed'? Have some left from last year!

I shouldn't worry to much about the leaf curl that can happen with the difference between night and day temperatures which have been varying quite a lot recently.

But if you have flowers on a feed of tom food can only do good and certainly no harm.
