    Feeding tomatoes

    When I water my toms with tomato food (or general fertiliser for the flowers) a few days later there appears sort of tiny blue/white spots on the leaves etc. It happened once and I didnt think too much about it, next time I really shook the bottle and stirred once in the watering can, but it happened again - my tomatoes do not look very good at the moment but I am reluctant to use the tomato food again - any ideas!!!!

    Sounds weird, how old is the fertiliser? Got a pic?

      Try not to get the food on the leaves. Even water on leaves will act as a lens in the sun and cause scorching. Water your tomato feed onto the ground or compost to be safe.

        Read the instructions on the bottle. Fertiliser should be applied to the soil or compost, not watered over the whole plant. You need a can with a long spout so you can direct the diluted fertiliser below the leaves onto the compost.

            Even quite ugly blotches on some of the leaves won't stop you getting a decent crop. Don't worry about it - just store it up for next time!
