  • Feeding my plants?

    Hi,

I am new to growing my own and to this forum...so far I have been having a great time and over the last week I have enjoyed eating my first salad leaves and radishes.

I have found reading posts on the forum to be very helpful so far but would like some advice about what plants require feeding and when to start?...

I have got strawberries, tomatoes and courgette plants that have all got flowers on them and chilli plants on my windowsill that have little buds that look like they are going to turn into flowers. Should I be feeding these plants now? I have bought some Tomorite, can I use this for my courgettes and strawberries as well as the tomatoes?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi and welcome New Tattie. I am feeding all of the above with tomato feed. The advice I got on here (New Shoots is very good for beginners) was that if it flowers and fruits you can feed it with tomato feed. I also give them seaweed (again from advice) if they're looking a bit out of sorts. Happy Gardening. Flo

The old guys used to say start feeding your toms as soon as the first truss has set fruit. They shouldn't need it before that but don't over feed them either. Over feeding plants is just as unhealthy as overfeeding humans!
