    fav mint

    My herbs are doing better than my veg, typical

    but knowing there are quite alot of varieties of mint out there now what are your favourites ... that you actually use as well

    Ive currently got chocolate mint, garden mint, pepper mint and lavender mint ( though im inclined to think this smells of cat pe, so dont really use this one much lol )

    I love apple mint but have so many other mints it all gets a bit confusing. Indian mint and banana mint are my two latest. Chocolate mint with strawberries. Spearmint for new potatoes. Atlas Mountain mint is another current favourite. Try Jekka's Herb Farm for very different mint collection.
    Moroccan mint is the best for tea.

      I like apple mint for cooking but also have chocolate peppermint, pineapple, variegated, spearmint, Indian and Silver mint. Think I have eaudecologne and basil mint too. After a while I forget which is which

        I go by the sniff test - if it doesn't smell good I don't bother. I know lots of people will disagree with me, but I find a lot of the 'fancy' mints don't smell like their names, and often don't smell nice at all. I think some of that is just marketing.

        I've just got plain ol' garden mint (spearmint) and chocolate peppermint. If the garden mint hadn't been here already, I'd have gone for Moroccan mint - gorgeous scent to that one. I'd like some Corsican mint too, but mostly for the cute factor.
        March is the new winter.

          I have just sown Korean mint, so am awaiting the joys of that when it grows...How refreshing !!
          I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                I thought it smelt like cat pee, although I rather like its carpet/mat like form.

                  I've got garden mint, choc peppermint, apple mint, basil mint and lemon mint, but I've only actually tried eating a few of them yet, as most are quite new...

                  Just wondering, would anyone be up for a mint root swap some time?

                    Good idea H, I'm taking cuttings of most of mine at the moment, they root so easily in water that I just have to do it Happy to swap

                        Black peppermint. I don't really like the taste of mint but I have to have at least one to put in my Pimms. ;o)

                          Coming from the med I only grow peppermint, spearmint and moroccan/arab , all the other ones are of no use to me in the kitchen.
