  • Egyptian Walking Onions

    I need some advice please.

I bought some of these from a plant stall at the local Scouts coffee morning last year and they are enjoying growing in my garden.

I have promised a plant to a friend as soon as they strike ground and root. Or at least, I did about a year ago...

Ours are now around 3 ft tall with the little onion bulbs on top, happily swaying in the wind.

Do any of you grow these? If so, how big do they get before they "walk"?

And is it just a case of putting a pot underneath to catch them for them to root?

They look very healthy OITC . Mine have fallen over without making any topknots (yet) - they're first year too but nowhere near as robust as yours.
I think they just fall over when they're ready and plant themselves where they land

There is no photo or link. I'm on my phone if that makes any difference. I don't need glasses as I am already wearing high power contact lenses and my reading glasses.
