Just putting in some onion & leek seeds and wondered is it too early to start some broad beans off in rootrainers?

Planted 15 Claudia Aquadulce into pots yeaterday. Will make another couple of sowings in late Jan and Fed before sowing outdoors at end of March.

I planted some Express and Imperial Longpod towards the end of Jan in root trainers last year although they were rather later going in the ground as I hadn't got the bed dug early enough!
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Isn't it strange, I read this post, and remembered I planted broadies out early Feb, because it snowed just after, but although I thought I'd written everything in my diary, it doesn't say when I sowed them.
I know the later ones didn't do so well, they went in early Feb in pots in the greenhouse, but gave blind pods, no beans
. The earlier ones did well, I got loads of beans, so I don't think it was a pollination problem.
This year I planted them straight into the garden on 27th Oct, they are around 2 inches high, and seem to be withstanding the weather so far.I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.

i planted some in the autumn and left them in toilet rolls holders in the unheated GH. I noticed today that i think they've all died with the extreme cold - all lying over to one side - anything i can do to bring them back to life does anyone know?Comment

I only use loo roll holders if they are in them for a short period of time; they do dry out really quickly and go mouldy if too wet.

I have half a dozen bean plants growing in the unheated greenhouse that I sowed in November. they're about 6 inches high and standing up to the cold weather (we've had -8 here)
I'll be sowing some more in pots when the cold snap ends. Hopefully I'll get an early crop although when I've done this other years it only seems to be about 2 or 3 weeks earlier than the outdoor sown ones.Comment
