  • Dunluce potatoes

This is really as a thanks to Snoop for recommending Dunluce as first earlies.

I've grown them this year instead of the yummy Lady Christl. Pulled up the greenhouse bag yesterday and can report that they are delicious! Not hugely heavy cropping at 2.15kg for 3 seed spuds, but everything is late this year and there were a lot of teenier spuds in the bag.

I still have a whole bed's worth yet to dig up and I am looking forward to it a lot!

    Thanks for the thanks.

I've yet to start on our Dunluce. We're making our way through some Arran Pilots. Nice flavour and texture but they don't seem as 'healthy' overall as the Dunluce. Even though they're in the same bed, the Arran Pilots are flopping about and yellowing slightly, which is why we started on them first, whereas the Dunluce are still vibrant green and going strong. Perhaps the Dunluce are just a bit more heat tolerant.

Dunluce will grow on and become quite large. Still taste great. The first time I grew them, we liked them so much I thought we'd be disappointed with the Charlottes afterwards.
