  • The Dread Damping Off

Just noticed first seedling with signs of Damping Off

I try and water from the bottom and not too often but still it happens

Weak chamomile tea and cinnamon are meant to be natural Fungicide, so I will try these, but in the back of my mind is they just a "feel like I'm doing something" gesture.

    Anyone care to share experiences

What were they sown in? I think that Multi Purpose can be way too moisture retentive for seedlings, particularly small ones.

What temperature are they at? If at 10C - 16C it might be that the cold is allowing the humidity to have an effect (whereas at, say, 20C that might not be the case - relative humidity would be lower and/or the plants would more easily fight it off

planted in Seed Pellets - only one affected at the moment - not too crowded - I just hope it doesn't affect more.

I have dusted with cinnamon and will buy some chamomile tea even if it is only to drink to calm me down when they all perish.

If you haven't already done so remove the affected seedling, otherwise it is likely to spread.

I've had the odd lettuce seedling do this, but prompt removal has saved the others.

Well that's it I am mad - Shaking cinnamon on the seedlings - then buying Chamomile Tea making a brew and spraying them.

Might have a cup myself - I feel I might Damp Off.
