  • Don't get caught out...frost is forecast!!

Hi Grapes. I'm just sat watching breakfast TV and it looks like there may well be a relatively widespread frost tonight so protect those baby vegetable seedlings.

Hard to imagine with 21 degrees also being forecast for the day!!

Thanks....I checked for over here too - and we're expecting 1C tonight

It felt chilly last night so I threw some towels over the mini plastic greenhouses- and over the strawberries ( The lettuce area is already fleeced against birds)....but it was cloudy so we were OK....looks like it's going to be a lovely day here today- so I think I'll nip out and get more fleece to throw over the espaliered apples and pears for tonight!

We've had a harsh frost for the past two mornings, it's disappearing quickly, but definitely chilly when you're up at cock crow to... well go and let the cock out so he can crow.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I got distracted last night and nearly left all me seedlings out! It was only about 10pm when my housemate had to get something from his car and commented that it was really cold out that I remembered. The poor things were brought into the conservatory instead of their usual overnight positions in the greenhouse by way of apology

its been cold here in the northwest for the last couple of nights, with frosts forecast. I'm taking no chances: i nag the OH into helping me put the fleece over... (he grumbles but loves my home grown tomatoes, especially in sandwiches, so he knows its beneficial in the long run...)

Gawd, I'm getting my towels out for the spuds and my leek strands I left on the deck - big polystyrene box too heavy to forever move in and out of the conservatory and my Felthams have just started flowering today

I've just watched BBC weather and they've said frost for the far north of Scotland and sheltered glens. Down here its says 8-9 C. I thought it had to be 4c or below for ground frost. Don't know what to do now, may chance it.......or not, decisions, decisions!

Hmm, I just watched the news and it seems for anything south of Birmingham or so, it's only going down to about 8° tonight. Not quite frost weather. However, check out what they say for your area specifically of course.

Last night here was supposed to be about 6C, but the greenhouse went down to 1.5C. No frost though, which makes me wonder if my dual thermometer is working OK?

Feels very warm tonight, but a clear sky.
