Why would you think you needed to cover them?

          Ardroil
Perhaps they have foxes who like to dig up their potatoes - and everything else....
I put my first lot in and next day had to go round the allotment searching for them, scattered everywhere - that was when I put the net on.
          best wishes

You can put netting on to give the haulms support and stop them getting broken in the wind. I am going to use cheap pea netting and pop a few posts in the ground to attach it to.

You don't need netting Ardroil unless you have a special problem there.
You could ask your neighbours what the netting is for.
In Inverness you could still have a few frosts so it would be wise to keep some fleece at the ready.

They may have put fleese on them if thay are worried about frost. When the potatoes are small they are still liable to frost damamge.

                    Perhaps your neighbours are strange?

I have a fox problem which is why I raise in modules at home - except potatoes which happily fend for themselves
