  • Do I need to worry about my tomato plants?

    Hi All,

I noticed this morning that some of my tomato plants growing in the conservatory have light brown patches which are almost transparent, kind of papery!?

Is this anything to worry about? The lower leaves are affected more but they are seen on higher leaves also. The temperature in the conservatory is between 12C & 25C (sometimes up to 29C). Have a look at the attached photo.

Scorched from either water or condensation on the leaves, or just from touching the window when the sun's on them. They'll be fine, probably just need some ventilation when the sun is on them, and no water on the leaves.

      Crikey that was quick!

I was wontering whether they might have got too hot. I must keep an eye out for the temp and ventalite accordingly.

For a moment I thought it was something sinister.

      Thanks for your reassurance.

Yes, I agree with Sarah's diagnosis - water scorch. People are seeing it a lot ... it's cause by water on the leaves, being scorched by strong sun.

You need to water the roots, not the foliage.
