  • Debris netting - what's it like?

Lots of you use debris netting for frames etc but I've never actually seen it up close or handled it. Can you tell me how manageable it is by one person? If I bought a 3m x 50m roll - is it heavy, unwieldy?
Have I read that there are holes that need to be sewn up? If so, how do you do that? Are they huge or teeny?
Give me a Child's guide to Debris netting please

Have you ever walked by a scaffold and seen the sometimes colourful netting they use ??

As far as using it - it's a lot easier than using plastic or wire netting due to the fact you can roll it out flat and it doesn't curl back up because of the way it is tightly packaged.

I've seen it on scaffolding, but never up close enough to handle it.

A bit hard to explain - it's a bit like putting a bed sheet over your crops (net curtains may be a better analogy).

Debris netting is very flimsy & easy to handle, has got good stretchability, the holes are about an inch long but I don't bother sewing them up (it's up to you really). You should not have any problem handling it. Use bricks as a second pair of hands if reqd.

You may be able to see the holes here:

If you need to join it for extra width i use small cable ties along the bigger holes in the black area (as BMs pic) rather than sewing much easier in my humble opinion

Why Hello there - Gardening Guru ^^^^^
Thanks BM and to you Kevin. I've been afraid to order any as I didn't know how heavy or awkward it would be to handle. Greed tells me to order the biggest roll and there are less joins, but if it was delivered and I couldn't drag it down the garden it would be pointless
Thanks HM, didn't see you in there. Cable ties I can do - sewing I can't

You can get it in 1mtr, 2mtr or 3mtr widths so work out how much you need. No point in getting 3mt wide if your bed hoops are only 2.

But if it was 3m long you could lay it sideways! I don't even know what I want to do with it, I just know I have to have some - and some water pipe.........just because..........

For closing the larger holes i used thick fishing line cheaper than cable ties and easy to 'sew'
