  • Dare I?

I got the bed ready for the garlic and shallots in early November. By the moon it said that the 30th would be a good time to plant. What was it doing then? Freezing hard. Oh well I will just wait for it to warm up a bit I thought. Then it snowed again and again and now it looks as if we are to have more next week and this will go on until Christmas. So it looks as if I won't even be able to plant them on the shortest day.

Any ideas about planting them Peeps?

Cover the ground and remove the cover on the shortest day? Fleece with black plastic....should keep it a little warmer and snow free.

You can use a bulb planter to remove a plug - usually once the first inch is through it slips through the soil.

Thanks for the advice. I think that I will try covering the ground and then planting. Should I leave the fleece on after I have planted?
