This is my first year at growing mini cucumbers too, also in a polytunnel

I'm so excited I've counted 11 fruits already with one being ready any day now. They seem to be really heavy croppers, if they taste OK I'll be saving some of the seed for next year.

We ate the one last week and they are really nice, the skin seems alot thinner than the bigger cucumbers, its only a little plant maybe about 3ft if that but it has huge leaves on it so i never noticed the other 2 growing. i`m really impressed, the mini variety is one i will grow every year now. You wont be dissapointed marathon with the taste. louise X

louise, how are you finding growing in your PT.

This year has to be my best, hard work though. I've just connected up a solar powered waterbutt pump. I've connected it to my irrigation system, it waters three times, the plants get more water the hotter it is. It will save me so much time. I've got various drippers and drip pipe so the different veg get the right amount of water. Fingers crossed it works out well.
I can then spend the water time on the plants outside.

Mine isnt a proper poly tunnel, buying the place we live in and unable to sell our old house has been tight ! the tunnel i have cost me £50 from ebay, new, but not very strong if you look at the pics on my profile i had to build a wooden frame in it and then screw raised beds inside to keep it in place, as its very windy here. My father in law next door has the most fantastic greenhouse i have seen, its an old victorian one, its huge and has a watering system in it and a heating thing aswell, i havent got a watering system in mine, just me and a watering can, but next year when i get a greenhouse i will look into the system you have. PS for a cheap tunnel, the plants like it and aslong as its sheltered its ok ..x

what variety are your cucumbers please ? I have got a couple of 'green fingers' just nicely on their way - mine have to go outdoors, no greenhouse (yet ?). Is it the same type ?
odd notes about our kitchen garden project:
