Does your warm windowsill stay warm?

We have had this problem before. We grow Telegraph in a propogator but we keep them in it still heated until they reach the roof (which is about 8" high).

Then we take the lid off but keep them in our small south facing downstars toilet. This room always stays warm for some reason even at night.

My advice would be to keep them in the heated propogator until they are too big for it. Then take the lid off and place them somewhere warm (a radiator shelf is good).

I think that the longer you can leave them warm the better they will survive later on.
We grow our's on in an unheated greenhouse without any problems.

Hello Slooky, as I read your post, it is after you pot your cucs on that they wilt and die. Might be a clue there. Cucumbers and other curcubits are susceptible to stem rot so if you plant them too deep when you pot them on the stems might just rot. Is that what is happening ? Are the stems rotting (if so you will see it). Make sure you just plant them at the depth they were at before and see how you get on. You still have plenty of time to get good plants for this year. I haven't sown any yet and they will just go in a 3"
        pot on the windowsill.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Id personally keep them in the propogator till the 2 to 4 real leafs show.
I think the problem is your messing around with them to early also keep the heat down abit once germinated and remember to feed once a week if you keem in the prop sam mix/feed as toms normally works for me at that stage .
one last thing i found cuc,s marrows cour etc.. dont like to be touched and can kill them even with 4 leaves .Not read about other people killing them by handaling. maybe its because im a smoker im not sure ><
